What’s The Story?

A joyride from the Fairview Mall
By three tween-agers
And this is where the excitement
Wore off
So they shoved the cart hard
Watched it flip
And ran off
Laughing?

OR

A senior from the nearby building
Lost the cart
Due to a wobbly front wheel
Hitting a crack in the sidewalk
Sending her would-be grocery carriage
Toppling
Out of reach?

This shopping cart reminds me that
With some people I meet
And even those I’ve known a long time
And certainly
With some of the ancestors
I write about
There are situations
Where I will never know
The real story.
